Planning our acrostic poem

WALT- make a plan for our acrostic poem using the word TAONGA.

We talked as a class about all the words that we knew started with each letter of Taonga. We wrote them down in our plan that we have put below.

It was fun trying to look for the words that started with each letter.
We liked that we got to talk to each other when we were trying to come up with the words.

Next time we want to come up with more words to add to our plan.
Next time we want to try and use a different word, maybe about animals.

Have you ever written an acrostic poem before?
Which word do you like the best?

Week 2 word of the week

WALT- find out what words mean using a dictionary.

I had to google or use a dictionary to find out what fabulous means. Then I used it in 3 different sentences and thought about 4 different words that start with F.

Next time I want to use a word I have not heard before.
I liked using google to find out what words mean and I also liked thinking of other words.

What word would you like to do this for?

Learning to trace on google draw

WALT- trace on google draw to create our own picture.

We have been learning how to use the tracing tool on google draw. We had to find a cartoon image to trace around and change the colours of the pieces to they matched the original picture.

Check out what some of us did!

We really liked changing the colours and choosing what colours to use. It was a little tricky to trace at first but it got easy as we did it more.
Next time we want to try with different pictures that are harder.

Have done this before?

What was the hardest part?

Would you like to try this?

Learning to make a graph on google sheets.

WALT- use google sheets to make graph.

We were given names of peoples favourite colours and we voted for our favourite colour. We had to put the numbers and the colours into the boxes on google sheets.
We had to highlight the colours and the numbers and go to insert, chart and then change the chart to a column chart.

We also learnt how to change the colours and make it 3D.

Reflection-
We liked that we got to choose our favourite and that we got to change the colours of the background and bars on the chart.

Next time we want to make it more colourful.

We noticed on our graph that purple was the most popular colour.

Do you like our graph?
Do you like the colour we used?
Have you used google sheets for anything before?

Maths in Taonga

WALT- say equations we know that make a number.

We had to say numbers that we knew that added up to 40.  Some people said 90-50 and others said 80-40 and some said 40-0. Some of us also know that 80 divided by 2 makes 40.

We liked that this activity was a little bit tricky and it was fun to be in a group and talk about the numbers we wanted to say.

Next time we want to use bigger numbers like 50 or 100 to make it more challenging.

Do you want to do this activity too as a maths warm up?
Have you done one of these before?
