Learning how to write correct sentences.

WALThat- correct sentences have special parts.

We looked at a picture of a boy flying on a book and then we had to write a story about it. We got to make to story up using whatever we wanted.

We liked that we wrote correct sentences in my story.
We liked that we were able to write lots of sentences.
We liked that we got to use our imagination and make up our own story.

Next time we want to make our writing more interesting by using WOW words.
Next time we want to add alliteration to our stories.
Next time we want to add more writing to make our story longer.
Next time we want more time to write more and finish our stories.
Next time we want to add onomatopoeia to make our stories more exciting.

Do you like our story?
Do you use WOW words in your writing?
Do you use alliteration in your writing?
Would you use WOW words in your writing?
Do you know what alliteration is?

Learning to make a graph on google sheets.

WALT- use google sheets to make graph.

We were given names of peoples favourite colours and we voted for our favourite colour. We had to put the numbers and the colours into the boxes on google sheets.
We had to highlight the colours and the numbers and go to insert, chart and then change the chart to a column chart.

We also learnt how to change the colours and make it 3D.

Reflection-
We liked that we got to choose our favourite and that we got to change the colours of the background and bars on the chart.

Next time we want to make it more colourful.

We noticed on our graph that purple was the most popular colour.

Do you like our graph?
Do you like the colour we used?
Have you used google sheets for anything before?

Maths in Taonga

WALT- say equations we know that make a number.

We had to say numbers that we knew that added up to 40.  Some people said 90-50 and others said 80-40 and some said 40-0. Some of us also know that 80 divided by 2 makes 40.

We liked that this activity was a little bit tricky and it was fun to be in a group and talk about the numbers we wanted to say.

Next time we want to use bigger numbers like 50 or 100 to make it more challenging.

Do you want to do this activity too as a maths warm up?
Have you done one of these before?

How to make a model insect

How to make Model Bugs

Tiare: Our class made model insects. We got into three groups. We spread the green sticky plastic and then we scrunched it up with the newspaper for our body and head.

Ryder: I scrunched up plaster to make the body. I put plaster on it.

Aurora: Using plaster, we made legs and a head and a body for our insect. We made legs by rolling the paper then wrapping it in the green stuff ready to plaster. We stuck the legs to the body with masking tape.

Elise: Once the legs were stuck on we took our insects outside to paint them.

Moss: It was very hard to take them outside because their legs kept falling off.

Gene: We sat underneath the Pohutukawa trees so we could paint them.

Oasis: We had to share the paint.

Ashlyn: It was very messy.

Elise: We worked together as a team to paint them.

Rangitamoe: We hung the bugs on the tree with a piece of rope, so that they could dry.

Carl: Some people had to watch the bugs at lunchtime to make sure know one touched them.

Heath: When it was home time, Mrs M asked us if she could take them home to put the shiny vanish on them.
